The Japan High-Tech Expo, officially known as the Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technology (CEATEC), is a major platform for showcasing developments in the global electronics and information technology sector. For over a decade, with the joint efforts of the Japan Personal Computer Software Association (JPSA), the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA), and the Communications and Information Network Association of Japan (CIAJ), the exhibition has grown into Asia's largest and most cutting-edge world-class event in the electronics field.

CEATEC 2019 opened on October 15 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, where numerous Japanese technology companies showcased 5G applications, IoT technologies, and artificial intelligence, painting a picture of a "super smart society."

The theme of this year's exhibition was "Connecting Society, Co-creating the Future." Major Japanese tech companies, including Kyocera, Mitsubishi Electric, Sony, and NEC Corporation, brought their latest technologies. For example, NEC showcased cutting-edge smart city technologies, including AI analysis, the latest facial and fingerprint recognition, and smart streetlights utilizing 5G. Sony presented its latest medical technology products, such as surgical microscopes supporting high-definition 3D imaging, while Mitsubishi Electric exhibited a concept car equipped with various AI-assisted driving technologies.

In 2016, the Japanese government set a goal to build a world-leading "super smart society," aiming to maximize the use of information and communication technology to provide people with higher-quality services and a more convenient life. Consequently, CEATEC, originally focused on digital consumer electronics, has evolved into a comprehensive exhibition depicting the "super smart society."
